Author/Illustrator Guide - Douglas Florian

Douglas Florian was born on March 18, 1950 in New York, New York. His parents were Harold and Edith Florian. Douglas’ artistic ability was influenced by his father who was an artist. Douglas attended Queens College of the City University in New York and graduated in 1973 with a B.A. Douglas then attended School of Visual Arts in 1976. Douglas was married in 1985 to Marie and they have five children (Gale, 2007).

Florian drew cartoons and drawings for The New York Times and The New Yorker, and then worked as an author and illustrator for Greenwillow Books. Florian now works as an author and illustrator for Simon and Schuster. Douglas Florian current lives in Long Island, New York (Danielson, 2009).
