Invasive Species In Australia
The Red Fox was introduced in the late 1800's to Australia, because many Europeans wanted to use the fox to hunt native animals. Since then the Red Fox has been a constant problem in Australia from destroying gardens and farms to killing lambs that help provide food to families. Since the government has gotten involved it is now regulated that anyone can shoot a fox and take their own measures to get rid of any fox that is destroying their land.
What is being done:The local government of Australia is setting laws on these animals that can be killed in certain seasons or sometimes year round if they pose such a large threat, also they are developing new ways to kill these animals not as harshly through poisens. If not action is done officals are worried that if the Red Fox and Feral Water Bufflo continue to grow at a large rate damage could be done to local animals and the environment.
The Feral Water Bufflo was introduced when settlers first came to Australia to help on farms, meat, and milk. Yet, since the animals has been able to roam free they have had a impact on the wetlands of Australia.
The Cane Toad was introduced to Australia in the Queensland area in 1932 to control the the pest problem of that was harming the suger cane crops. Since then the cane toad has been in Australia it has killed different species in the area due to its poiseness nature. The Cane Toad is poiseness by touch and the eggs also are. The only problem these toads cause are the destruction of wetlands in the area and killing species of animals that live near the water sources. Otherwise scientist have not found a main cause or problem that would need to be addressed immediatly from these toads.
Public Service Announment:Dangers of Invasive Species; How they can effect you!Invasive species that are brought to an environment that they dont belong to can do damage to crops, gardens, and native animals. They can also effect how the environment around you interacts.
