ATOMS & THEIR SUBATOMIC PARTICLES
Atoms are basic building blocks of matter that make up everyday objects. Atoms are made up of three particles: - Protons - Neutrons - Electrons
ELECTRONS- Carry a negative charge - Circles the nucleus of an atom
PROTONS- Carry a positive charge- Within the nucleus
NEUTRONS- Carry no charge - Within the nucleus
MOLECULES - The smallest particle of a compound that still has the compound’s properties
COMPOUND - A unique substancethat forms when two or more elements combine chemically
CYRSTAL- A rigid, lattice-like framework of many atomsbonded together.
ELEMENT - The smallest particle of an element that still has the element’s properties
