Atacama Desert

The Atacama desert, a plateau located in Chile, a South American coutry. It is the driest desert in the world. It covered an area about 105,000 km².

A rock formed in the Atacama desert. This rock was a shape of a giant hand, it five fingers of a hand, but the palm was not there.

Atacama was formed by the cold ocean current, and rain shadow. One of the reason why Atacama didn't get enough rain is because the mountain is so high that it blocked the rain or snow to get across to the other side.

One side of the mountain was the driest place on Earth, and the other side of the mountain was the wettest place on Earth. They were right next to each other.
