ASTRONOMY!
Solar System Facts:- Nearly 5 billion years old- Made up of 8 planets and a handful of dwarf planets- More than 17o moons -Dust, gas, and thousands of asteroids and comets orbiting the sun - The 4 planets closest to the sun are called terrestrial planets because they have solid, rocky surfaces- The 4 planets beyond the orbit of mars are called gas giants - Pluto has a solid but ice covered surface
- What you see when you look at the moon depends on its location in relationship to the sun and Earth.-The moon takes about 27.3 days to revolve around the Earth, traveling at an average distance of about 384,000 kilometers.- We don't see any reflected sunlight on its front face, so it looks like there is no moon- We divide the moon's orbital cycle into several segments and faces. - When the sun and the moon are on the same side of the Earth, the sun illuminates the side of the moon that faces away from the Earth.
