Assistive technology is any item, piece of equipment, software or product system that is used to increase, maintain, or improve the functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities. Different disabilities require different assistive technologies.

Asssistive Technology Act of 1998The Assistive Technology Act, also known as the "Tech Act" provides funds to states to support three types of programs: * the establishment of assistive technology demonstration centers, information centers, equipment loan facilities, referral services, and other consumer-oriented programs; * protection and advocay services to help people with disabilities and their families, as they attempt to access the servies for which they are eligible;* Federal/state programs to provide low interest loans and other alternative financing options to help people with disabilites purchase needed assistive technology.

My Choice Board is an app that enables an iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad to become an augmentative and alternative communication device. The app allows for multiple boards to be created and the option of a recorded message to play when the image is tapped.

Touch Accessible Platform for Interactive Technology (TAP-It) is an interactive learning station that helps to motivate students and enables students of varying abilities to interact with the screen.
