Arctic Tundra

Cold and Treeless with up to 30-60 mile per hour winds. In the summer the snow melts creating pools of water and marsh like land. This attracts millions of birds every year.

Little precipitation and if any it is usually in the form of snow. Average 6-10 inches of rainfall each year.

The soil is completely frozen in the Winter. In the Summer the upper layer thaws and water pools at the surface attracting insects.

Fun FactPermafrost is an impermeable and permanently frozen layer of soil that prevents water from draining and roots from penetrating the deep soil.

Annually the temperature is -70°F (-56°C). Summer time is has a range of 37°-60°F. Winter's range is an average of -94°F (-70°C). Spring and Fall's average temperature is -18°F (-28°C).
