ARCTIC FOXES

Shared ResourcesThe arctic fox shares thick forest pines with many animals. For example, the arctic fox shares the thick forest bushes with the snowy owl. While the arctic fox uses it for hunting camoflauge, the snowy owl uses it for nests. The arctic fox also shares the lakes with the polar bears. The polar bears use it for a source of fish.

The arctic fox has to watch out for its predators including polar bears, arctic wolves and large birds of prey.

Ecosystems The area that the arctic fox lives is mainly snowy tundras or pine forests. During the winter it can be found near ice flows with a white coat to match. In the summer their coat turns light grey or brown to match the summer terrain. Their dens are burrows in hillsides or in the earth.
