Future Prospects

There is a great interdependence of flora and fauna. Much of the fauna are herbivores who survive on the flora and who intern return nutrients to the soil. Other fauna are dependent of the herbivores for nutrition. Currently the arctic ecosystem is starting to show changes caused by climate change. In the future these changes will likely intensify. Some of the changes include loss of sea ice, changes in sea life, and the encroachment of new fauna normally seen in areas with warmer temperatures.
