Animals are particularly dependent on plant life, especially in Lakes, Ponds, and Wetlands. Plants are not as dependent on the animals, but there are exceptions. There is no doubt the ecosystem is suffering due to human development. People are its greatest threat!
The relationship between Animals and plants is not as pronounced when talking about marine life. That does not mean, however, that there is no connection. In coastal areas especially, they can be particularly dependent on each other. Think Everglades :-) Health is the big issue. There are too many issues to list, but again, all of them stem to humans. BP oil spill, overharvest, pollution, and destruction of habitat are just a few of the major issues.
