"Buzz" Aldrin

Niel Armstrong was the first of the crew to go on the moon. As he stepped off of the ladder from the spacecraft and onto the surface of the moon he said, "One small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind." The only crewmember that didn't go on the moon was Micheal Collin. He stayed inside to take care of the lunar modular. Niel Armstrong and "Buzz" Aldrin collected rock and soil samples for scientists to study on Earth. On July 24,1969 they landed in the Pacific Ocean back on Earth. The Apollo 11 crew will always be remembered for what they did.

Apollo 11 was the first manned mission to the moon. the crewmembers were: Neil Armstrong, the commander, Edwin E. Aldrin, and Micheal Collins. They were launched by a rocket called Saturn V. On January 20, 1961 John F. Kennedy made a speech saying that we were to go to the moon. After years of training, they finally set off in the Apollo 11 and landed on the moon's Sea of Tranquility on July 20, 1969.
