INGREDIENTSI25g Butter, Chopped2tbsp Golden Syrup1cup Self-rising Flour 3/4 Firmly Packed Brown Sugar 3/4 Quickly Cooking Oats
Anzac Biscuits
METHOD 1. Preheat oven 180'C / 160'C fan forced. Line 3 baking trays with baking paper. Sift the flour into a large bowl. Stir in the oats, coconut and brown sugar. 2. Put the butter, golden syrup and 2 tablespoons water in a small saucepan. Stir over a medium heat until melted. Stir in the bicarbonate of soda.3. Pour the butter mixture into the flour mixture and stir until combained.4. Roll level tablespoons of mixture into balls. Place on trays, about 5cm apart. 5. Press with a fork to flattern slightly. Bake for 10-12minutes or until golden brown. 6. Set aside on the trays for 5 minutes then transfer to a wire rack so it cools completely.
Anzacs ate Anzac biscuits while they were in Gallipoli. In Australia we eat Anzacs because the Anzac people ate them in Gallipoli when they were fighting. They ate Anzacs because they were fresh for a really long time and they loved them.
