There are many ingredients put into a cigarette. The main ingredient found is nicotine which gets people addicted to it. Other ingredients in cigarettes are tar, mercury, formaldehyde, plutonium, arsenic, ammonia, and lead. There are a total of 4000 ingredients in each cigarette which is really bad for your body.

There are many health effects of tobacco use. Tobacco happens to kill more Americans than alcohol, cocaine, crack, heroin, homocide, suicide, car accidents, fires and AIDS combined. You are twice as likely to have a heart attack from tobacco use. Your heart rate increases by 15-20 beats per minute and your blood pressure begins to rise because the small arteries are constricted. Tobacco use can cause multiple types of diseases such as bronchitis, lung cancer, emphysema and heart disease.


There are many ways to quit using tobacco. The hardest way would be "Cold Turkey", which means that you just stop using tobacco products. If it is difficult for you to stop using tobacco products, you can use Nicorette gum, Nicoderm patch, or a nicotrol inhaler. Using these products, you can still get the nicotine in your body without all of the chemicals that can give you lung cancer and many other diseases. Another way to stop tobacco use is to consider all the health problems it causes. If you know what happens to you when using this substance, this should be a motivation not to use it again. These are all different ways that you can use to eliminate tobacco use.
