Anti-semitism was highly prevalent during the Middle Ages and the Crusades. At the time, usury was banned by the Catholic Church, so Jews were the only ones who could loan money, this started the stereotype that Jews are greedy. It was also at this time that Jews were being demonized due to their rejection of the prophet Jesus, and degrading imagery from the time was used by Adolf Hitler as propaganda before World War II.
