Anne Frank

- Anne Frank was born on June 12, 1929 in Frankfort, Germany to Otto Frank & Edith Frank-Hollander.- They were liberal jews. - The Franks were among 300,000 Jews who fled Germany between 1933 and 1939.- Before going into hiding, Anne attended a Montessori school.- She loved reading & writing. - When going into hiding, she had to leave behind her cat, Moortje, in which she loved. - She considered herself to be closest emotionally to her father. - Her journal entries was full of sarcasim & witt. - On the morning of August 4, 1944, following a tip from an informer who was never identified, Anne & the families were stormed by a group of German uniformed police & taken to a concentration camp where all but her father died.


- Her diary has been translated into 80 diverse languages - She & her diary was the world's first primary source of the Holocaust- Anne and the families were successfully able to hide in the Secret Annex for over 3 years- Although she was put in a concentration camp, she was the last to die

1929 - Anne Frank is born1933 - First anti-jewish laws are established under Hitler1942 - Anne Frank recieves a "diary" for her 13th birthdayJuly 1942 - Family goes into hiding1942 - The Van Pels & Fritz Pfeffer join the Frank family in hidingAugust 1944 - These families were betrayed, arrested, & taken to Westerbork Training CampSeptember 1944 - The residents are taken to Auschwitz where the men were seperated from the womenOctober 1944 - Anne, Margot, and Mrs. van Pels are transported to the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. Edith Frank remains in the women's subcamp at Auschwitz-Birkenau. March 1945 - Anne and Margot Frank die at the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp within days of each other. October 1945 - Otto Frank receives a letter informing him that his daughters died at Bergen-Belsen. Miep gives Anne's diary to Otto. She found and hid the diary after the Franks' arrest and had been hoping to return it to Anne.
