Anne Frank was born on June 12th 1929 in Frankfurt, Germany. She was the second daughter to Otto Frank and Edith Frank-Hollander. Her sister, Margot, was 3 years older than her. On her 13th birthday, Otto gave her a white and red checked journal with a small lock. Anne continued to use this as her diary. On July 6th 1942 Anne and her family went into hiding from the Nazis with another family (The Van Daans) and a dentist (Fritz Pfeffer). They were supported by friends who brought them food and anything else they needed. After 2 years the group was betrayed and transported to a concentration camp in March of 1945

Lasting Impact
Anne Frank showed people what it was like to live in such extreme circumstances. It also showed how Anne struggled with the universal problem of growing up.
