This monkey was named Sam and he was on a test flight in a Mercury capsule and went 55 miles into space. When he came back to earth, he was found in the Atlantic Ocean off the North Carolina Coast.

These cats, ready in their space suits, are about to be shot off into space.

In summary, animals have gone into space and most have survived. Animals have always been test-runners and they can help us learn a lot from animals. I wonder what we will find out from animals next? Or, can animals live in space?
