Ancient Rome

Romans huge, gigantic wooden horse. The statue was hollow, full of roman soldiers. The Romans put the horse by the entrance of the Trojans boundaries. The Trojans excepted the horse as a gift, so they took it inside. The Romans decided once they got past the gates they would attack the people of Trojan. The Trojan war was known for their poems like the Iliad and Odysseus, both written by a roman named Hoemer around 700 B.C.

Rome and Carthage had three disagreements, so they had three wars. Rome won the three wars, which made them have power over the western Mediterranean at the time. The wars were called The Punic Wars, because Carthage had been found by the Phoenicians. The first Punic war began because Rome didn't want the Carthage and Syracuse to pair up and rule the Strait of Messina. So that's what caused the first Punic war to start. The second war started rivalry between Rome and Spain and Carthage. Then again Rome had won. The third was started when Carthage disagreed with the Roman peace treaty. Then again, the Romans won the war.

If you were wealthy you could own two houses. One in the country and in the city. All of the Roman houses pretty much all look the same. The roman houses usually had a garden and the walls were bright colored. They had the same types of furniture as the U.S. They loved art work in there homes.

If you were wealthy, at diner parties you would vegetables, fruit, eggs, meats, fish, and cakes. The Romans tables were low, so at dinner they sat on low couches at dinner parties. At home they would eat grapes, figs, olives, and for the meal they would sometimes have small songbirds, asparagus, and quail eggs

If you were pour you would eat differently. The main food if you were poor was porridge. In Rome they called porridge "plus". As you can probably tell it was not the best food in Rome. To make the porridge is wheat and water. Sometimes the poor would also have vegetables.

If you lived in ancient Rome at the time some of the toys you might play with are "Rag dolls, marbles, model chariot, and even a toxic toy." The rag doll is a older doll and made of older fabric. there were two types of common marbles, glass marbles and pottery marbles. The glass marbles could be all different types of colors. They kind of looked like the U.S. marbles we have now. The pottery marbles were made out of pottery. The model Chariot two horses pulling a like wagon. The toxic toy was made from death threatening lead. That lead used to be in pencils but is now not.

Fenugreek was a very important medicine that helped with pneumonia. Rosemary was used in many medicines. sage also helped with healing. Soldiers ate much garlic because it helped for health. Elecampane help with digestion. The Romans thought that Fennel help calm themselves.

The Colosseum is a huge arena. Titus was the emperor when it was built. It was designed for people to get out of it, in 5 minutes or less because of the arching form. It was designed to hold about 50,000 people. The was 80 ways to get in. The arena was beautiful but made for a terrible purpose you would come to see people being killed and hurt. The "show" was paid by the emperors.
