Ancient India

The Taj Mahal was built by Emperor Shah Jahan to house the tomb of his recently deceased wife. Construction began in 1632. It took over 20,000 workers with the help of about 1,000 work elephants 20 years to build it. When completed, the marble structure sat on the banks of the Yamuna River at the end of a large, square garden divided into four parts by long pools full of water. When he died in 1666, Jahan was buried beside his wife.Above: The Taj MahalPicture From: en.wikipedia.org

The National animal of India is the Bengal Tiger, an endangered species. The tiger was chosen because it symbolizes strength, agility, power, and it represents India's wildlife wealth.Above: A Bengal TigerPicture From: www.nepalmountainnews.com
