Kings called pharaohs were regarded as near godly by the Egyptian people. So when they died people built splendid tombs called pyramids.
Government
Ancient Egypt was a civilization in North Africa that began around 5000 BCE.The civilization of ancient Egypt thrived from its ability to adapt to the conditions of the Nile River Valley.

In 3200 BCE, the villages of Egypt were divided into two kingdoms, Upper Egypt and Lower Egypt. Later, they were united, possibly by a king named Narmer, around 3000 BCE.
The government of Egypt was a theocracy; rule is based on religious authority.
Ancient Egyptians worshipped more than 2,000 gods and goddesses; the most important were Re, Osiris, and Isis.
They also believed in an afterlife, royal and elite Egyptians even preserved their bodies by mummification after death.

The pyramids of Egypt are an impressive feat of technological skill and organization. Large stone blocks had to be moved, cut and stacked to great heights by human power. These structures took decades to build, showing that their economy was strongenough to support the projects.
