Writing Assessment and Instruction Analysis
RationaleThe purpose of this analysis is to design an instructional writing plan for a student. My plan identified a student needing direct, explicit instruction on producing, expanding, and rearranging complete sentences. The plan includes: -One-on-One Instruction-Pre and Post Assessing-Formative Assessment-Setting Learning Goals-Interactive Writing Lessons-Write Aloud Lessons-Author's Craft Mini-lessons-Teacher Model
ReflectionQuite possibly, the most important piece of the analysis is your reflection. This project requires you to think about how your lesson went and use the assessments to drive your instruction. My Reflection: This process has changed my thinking about writing instruction and the strategies we use as teachers. My student grew from scoring a 2 on the pre-assessment to a 5.5 on the post assessment. This process provided me with extensive information about my student. I was able to adapt to his needs and make changes once he understood the concepts. AnalysisAnalyzing the scores in a chart helps us better understand what our students need. I was able to analyze my student's progress throughout the process using assessments.

Learning Goals **Linked to Common Core State StandardsStandard L.2.1F – Produce, expand, and rearrange complete simple and compound sentences.” In order to meet the learning goals, the student must accurately write a complete, simple sentence.
Teachers can analyze in their own classrooms!
Assessments Pre and Post Assessments were quick writing samples to ensure growth. One formative assessment given halfway through, which consisted of identification to demonstrate understanding of concept. Use modifications if necessary! Assessments should measure the goal. Use a rubric and be consistent!---------------------------------------Lesson PlansI designed 5 lesson plans that incorporated various, research-based instructional strategies. This included write alouds, interactive writing, and workshop style mini-lessons. Lesson plans can change based on student needs! Lesson plans should include objective, materials, procedures, and a reflection piece--------------------------------------
