The Amazing Life of Amerigo Vespucci

In 1502, Amerigo Vespucci sailed along South America's coast. When he found America, he knew it wasn't Asia. Now America, as we know it, was called after Amerigo Vespucci. Now in 1507, some scholars at Saint-Dié-des-Vosges, were working on a geography book called Cosmographiae Introductio. Since he was the one who knew it wasn't somthing else besides Asia, he was honored the best award anyone could ever ask for. South America and North America is named after Amerigo Vespucci. Sadly after, in 1507, Amerigo Vespucci died of an unknown cause at the age of 58 on Febuary 22.

Amerigo Vespucci was an Italian explorer, financier, navigator and cartographer. In 1454, Amerigo Vespucci was born. He was born in the wealthy city of Florence. His parents were Lisabetta Mini Vespucci and Nastagio Vespucci. His siblings are Bernardo Vespucci, Antonio Vespucci, Gerolamo Vespucci, Agnoletta Vespucci. Amerigo Vespucci was named after Saint Emeric.

His first exploration was from Candiz to Venezuala in approximately five weeks. His next exploration was to go to the coast of Guyanna and Brazil. He sailed with the Marina Militare( it is the ship Amerigo Vepucci sailed with.) During the trip he also discovered the Amazon River and Cape St. Augustine. In 1501, Amerigo Vespucci started his third voyage. He sailed to Cape Verde, and at this time he was working for King Manuel 1 of Portugal. He later discovered present-day Rio de Janeiro and Rio de la Plata. Amerigo Vespucci called South America the New World. His claim was based on Christipher Colombus's route to (Asia). In 1502, Amerigo Vespucci studied constellations and named a few stars. In 1503, he then sailed with Gonzal Coelho. Now they apparently found Bahia and some islands in South Geogia, then returned in 1504. As a theory, many people believe that Amerigo Vespucci took a fith or a sixth with Juan De La Cosa. Many other historians believe that the fourth expedition was his last with Juan De La Cosa. In 1508, Amerigo Vespucci became chief navigator. In 1931, there was a ship bulit in Amerigo Vespucci's honor, and same with Christopher Colombus. In 2012, there was a coin minted in his honor.
