American Alligator

Luna is a rare albino alligator that can be seen at the Fort Fisher Aquarium

In my opinion, the American Alligator is one of the dumbest animals to be labled as threatened. I live in an area that is abundant with swamps and rivers, and there are tons of alligators. They are making an unnecesary comeback. They are dangerous animals that can pose a threat to people if there numbers are not kept in check.

In order to stop the hunting of alligators in NC, a fine of over $4000 dollars is charged to the killer of the animal. If you feel the alligator poses a threat to you where it is, the wildlife control will most likely not relocate it because of its "threatened" title. Alligators originally became threatned from over hunting.. I personally believe the alligator should be taken off the endangered species list because not only are they a nuisance, they are a dangerous nuisance. I am scared to go water skiing where we always used to go because of the comeback the alligators have made in the area.

American Alligator

The American Alligator, or Alligator Mississippiensis, is considered a threatened species in the state of North Carolina. I have a particular attraction to this animal because we know of about 4 that live literally in my back yard, the biggest one being approx. 7 feet.

Alligators are commonly found sunning themselves because being cold blooded, they need to sit in the sun to stay warm

Slightly Childish, but you get the picture
