Biography Amelia Earhart was born in Atchion, Kansas on July 24, 1898. She moved a lot during her child hood. When she grew up she was a nurse’s aid to military pilots. Then she got her pilots license on March 17, 1922 and bought a plane. In 1931, she married George Putman. Finally on May 29, 1932, she flew solo across the Atlantic Ocean. On March 17, 1937, she tried to be the first person to fly around the world. Sadly, it is believed she crashed in Hawaii on July 2, 1937. She was never heard from again.

Accomplishments- Wrote 2 books about her adventures.- Traveled to countries to give lectures.- Helped fund an organization for female pilots.

Lasting Impact- Helped fund an organization for female pilots- First person to fly across the Pacific Ocean and first female pilot to fly across the Atlantic Ocean.
