Amelia Earhart Biography

Amelia proved that girls can do anything that boys could do;She was the first girl to;-fly across the Atlantic in a plane in 1928 as a passenger.-flew across our country coast to coast later that year.-she flew across the Atlantic on the first ever solo flight by a women and landing in Ireland in 1932.-attempt to fly around the world at the equator, disappeared in the south pacific in 1937.


-Born July 1897-1908 family moved to Des Moines Iowa where she saw her first airplane at the state fair.-1913-1916 Amelia's family moved around due to her dad had problems with drinking. -1918 Amelia volunteered as a nurse in a hospital during WWI and heard many stories from soldiers that were pilots.-1920 moved to California and took her first flight in an airplane.-1921, she took flying lessons from Neta Snook "Snooky" one of the few women pilots. Also bought her first plane.-1924-1928 worked as a Social Worker in Boston at Dennison House.-1928 in June was the first women to fly across the Atlantic (as a passenger) on the Friendship, she was instantly famous.-1928 Sept. she was first women to fly across the country.-1932 May, she was the first women to fly across the Atlantic solo landing in Ireland.-1936 She began secretly planning a trip around the world at the equator, she got a Lockheed plane paid for by Purdue University.-1937 After a crash in March and her plane fixed, she began her attempt to fly around the world in May with her navigator Fred Noonan. -1937 July 2, after landing in other places she was in New Guinea on July 3 at 8:45 am unable to find her tiny island landing spot she radioed her last time and disappeared.

Amelia plane wreckage may have been found recently, this summer they will prove for sure!
