Amber is a type of fossilization where the resin, or sap from a tree drips down the side and traps something in it. The unique thing about Amber is that iver time the organism is almost completely preserved because the amber traps in most of the origional oxygen from millions of years ago. Amber was mostly found in the central part of Europe but has been found in some forests in the U.S.

Amber
The oldest amber ever found to this day was 320 million years ago during the Carboniferous Period!
Now a day, mosquitoes are thought to be pests but millions of years ago they were so impornant to the circle of life. Scientists now, with the help of modern technology can extract blood consumed by prehistoric mosquitoes and get real DNA from a dinosaur! That gives scientists for than a fossil!
Even though amber is very rare, some more recent samples of amber with insects and other creatures in it are worn as jewlery and ever sold for keepsakes.
