Amazonite

Amazonite was named after the Amazon River in 1847 by Johann Friedrich August Breithaupt where it was first found. Now, mineralogists cannot find Amazonite in the Amazon River, but they can find the gemstone in other parts of Brazil.

Amazonite is a gemstone in the feldspar mineral group, and is made out of green microline. Its colors can either be light green, yellow- green, or light bluish- green with white streaks.

Amazonite is located in Russia's Ilmen mountains, Colorado, Virginia, Australia, Madagascar and Brazil.

Amazonite is also known as Amazon Stone, and is often confused with Colorado Jade or Pikes Peak Jade because of the close resemblance of color.
