Alkali metals are the first group in the periodic table consisting of Lithium, Sodium, Potassium, Rubidium, Caesium and Francium. These elements are found only as salts normally in a +1 state (missing one electron)
Trends include:-Atomic radius increasing-Reacitivity decreasing-Electronegativity decreasing-Melting and boiling points decreasing -Malleable
Reacitivity decreases down this group, meaning that Lithium's reaction is medium, Sodium's is strong, Potassium's very strong and so on. However, Caesium is more reactive than Francium, and also the most reactive metal on the periodic table. Take a look over there :) -------------------------->

Trends & Uses
Some uses are:-Lithium >Batteries, Lubricants-Sodium >Table salts, Metal smoother-Potssium >Plant nutrient, pH controller-Rubidium >purple fireworks-Caesium >Exteremly accurate atomic clock
