Volta's first battery made available for the first time a sustainable source of electrical current. It led to electric motors, generators, and was a corner stone for other electrical devices. Portable electrical technology owes its existence to Volta's invention.

Alssandro's most famous contribution was in 1800 when he developed the electric battery

Born: February 18, 1745 in Como, Italy Death: March 5, 1827 in Como, Italy

Can you imagine life with none of these? Batteries power the modern world. The global lifestyle would change rapidly and dramatically.

Napoleon made him Count Volta in 1810

"The Voltaic Pile consisted of discs of copper and zinc separated by discs of paper or cardboard (soaked in salt water). Attached to the top and bottom of this "Pile" was a copper wire. When Volta closed the circuit, electricity flowed through the pile".

"Volta began experimenting with electricity in 1774 while he was a physics teacher"
