A Brief Book Summary

Alcatraz Prison

.

Moose

This book is a historical fiction that has both comedy and drama. The Flanagan’s move to creepy Alcatraz Island because Matthew's (aka Moose) father got a new job as an electrician and prison guard. The Flanagan’s also moved there so Moose's sister Natalie can go to a special school in the area. Alcatraz held some of the most dangerous criminals in America, and now Moose Flanagan and his family must live around them!Moose isn't excited about this, as you might guess. He is isolated from his old friends and it's hard for him to make new ones. He's always busy taking care of his older sister Natalie because she is autistic. He does make a few friends though - a pretty girl named Piper who is a bit more adventurous than Moose is and has an obsession with Alcatraz's most famous criminal Al Capone. She convinces Moose that Al would do all their class's shirts if they paid him. After Natalie is rejected from her special school, Moose grows tired of doing the "right" thing. By the end of the book he realizes all the sacrifices his family makes for Natalie is worth it. Natalie finally gets into a new special school, but only because Al Capone helped out... or did he?
