AIR PRESSURE

Due to the completely random motion of air molecules, air pressure pushes equally in all directions.

Air pressure is the weight of the air on top of the earth's surface. There is about 15 pounds of air pressing down on every square inch of the earth's surface.....including the top of your head! Why don't we "feel" the weight of the air?

Air is denser and air pressure is greatest at sea level or below (like in Death Valley, Arizona). Air pressure, or barometric pressure, decreases with altitude.

Dry air is heavier and creates regions of high pressure. Moist air is lighter and creates areas of low pressure.

Air pressure is measured with a mercury or water barometer, similar to the one made in class.

TOTALLY RANDOM VIDEO THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH AIR PRESSURE ALTHOUGH IT DOES HAVE WIND, CLOUDS AND A KITE
