Insects:There is a wide variety of insects in Africa but no insect is more imortant than ttermites and ants. Termites and ants are decomposers that eat dead grass and treesand aertate large amounts of soil each year which improves soil fertility

African Savvana

Other Challenges: scortching heat and lack of water. The dry season in Africa can reach up to temperatures of 90 during the dry season. The dry season in Africa is from November-April and olny recieves around 4 inches of rain.

This tree is one of the most iconic plants in the African Savanna biome. It is known as the Umbrella Thorn Acacia. This tree is one of the most versitile plants in Africa, It can survive with only 4 cm's of rain annualy and survive at 122 degrees at day time and survive freezing temperatures at night

Challenges:One of the biggest challenges for all the animals in the African Savanna are poachers. Poachers kill Elephephants and Rhinos for their ivory which then they sell for money.

African Elephant:The African Elephant is the largest animal on earth and can weigh up to 12,000 pounds. Some adaptions of an African Elephant are the large ear to regulate body temperature and cool down the elphant. When their ears do not cool them down they use there trunk to shower them selves. Their trunk isnt only for showering, it is a large nose that contains 100,000 muscles and is used for drinking, smelling, making noise, and reaching for food.

The African savanna is a tropical grassland with warm temperatures year round and with its highest rainfall in the summer. The savnna occus in central Africa.

Protists:Plasmodium is a protist found in Africa and has 100s of species. The four main plasmodium species are: P. falciparum, P. malariae, P. ovale and P. vivax. Plasmodium is a parasite that causes Malaria. Malaria kills over 1 million people each year with 90% of deaths occuring in Africa.

Bacteria:The African Savvanah is the ideal place for bacteria to live because the temperature stays above 70 year round. Acidobacteria is just one example of bacteria in Africa. It can cope with changes in soil moister and can slow down its eating habits when food is scarce.
