African Americans in WWI

369th Infantry Regiment-The first African American/Puerto Rican regiment serve with the American Expiditionary Force during WWI.-A.K.A. Harlem HellFighters/Blcak Rattlers

-African Americans were drafted but not for combat. They were given jobs that involved dirty work such as digging latrines.

-African Americans during WWI never fought in combat until the army was desperate for men, and could not turn down any men volunteering to fight.

-The African American soldiers were segregated from the white soldiers, and were not given the same rights.-They wanted to fight for their country which stands for freedom, rather than the racism in it.
