People affected by afluenza become depressed and unhappy. Because of this, they feel like they need to buy more things to be happier but, the more they buy, the more they want and the unhappier they become. This leads to an unhappy society and this feeling spreads between people, leading eventually to an unhappy world.

Affluenza can be successfully treated. The most important step is the first one - to bring the condition out of hiding, to name it and de-mystify it. Now you can begin to create more balanced expectations and use money in more appropriate ways. This involves awareness, education and change. With personal insight into the potentially crippling effects that money, or its blind pursuit, can have on our lives. As a buisness manager of employee, you can work towards creating more finacially beneficial workplace and creating a more successful workplace. The definition of success is much broader than the financial bottom line.
