Adam Smith

BiographyAdam Smith was a Scottish political economist and philosopher. He has become famous by his influential book The Wealth of Nations (1776). Smith was the son of the comptroller of the customs at Kirkcaldy, Fife, Scotland. The exact date of his birth is unknown. However, he was baptized at Kirkcaldy on June 5, 1723, his father having died some six months previously.

As well as engaging in traditional think tank activities – like conducting research, publishing reports, and holding seminars and conferences – the Institute has also, throughout its history, paid a great deal of attention to developing the next generation of policymakers and opinion formers.Today Smith’s reputation rests on his explanation of how rational self-interest in a free-market economy leads to economic well-being. 1- How we roll 2- Pray you through 3- I’m not better Adam smith listens to country/classical music.

Personal info

In 1748, Adam Smith began giving a series of public lectures at the University of Edinburgh. in 1750 he met and became lifelong friends with Scottish philosopher and economist David Hume. This relationship led to Smith's appointment to the Glasgow University faculty in 1751.
