BENEFITS FOR STUDENTSBowen (2013) argues that there are a number of benefits of online education that increase productivity, which may not only include convenience and accessibility. There are also additional benefits that help reduce cost for students. Online courses help eliminate expenses such as transportation (Aspillera, 2012). The biggest benefit is the elimination of expensive textbooks. Within the online setting, Acme would offer digital textbooks, which would have students hundreds of dollars each semester.

A GOOD EXAMPLEConcordia University Online- Wisconsin "currently educates more than 2,400 active online students, a number that has been rising every year" (About Concordia university online l Concordia online," 2015). The institution has a wide range of programs to choose from offering various levels of degrees. With its growing population, Concordia has prove to be "an education system that prepares students for the workplace, and teaching methods that involve fewer textbooks and more real life" (About Concordia university online l Concordia online," 2015).

BENEFITS FOR FACULTYFor the staff at Acme, specifically those staff teaching online courses, there are many benefits. Instructors will find increase efficiency because they will be able to utilize online tools such as automated quizzes, which will reduce the amount of spend grading ("Benefits and Challenges of Online Instruction," n.d.). This would help reduce the number of office hours normally required by instructors, freeing up physical space that would normally be a financial concern for institutions. In addition, instructors can teach and grade whereever they please, as long as they have wireless access.

DISADVANTAGESAcme will have to invest a lot of money. Creating curriculum will be time consuming and costly, but once created, it will be available and only need modifications with time. Acme will also need to invest in an online system or adopt an existing one. Instructors will need to be hired to teach online courses as some may not want to make the transition from face-to-face instruction to online learning ("What are the disadvantages of online schooling for higher education?", 2003). In addition, those instructors who will be hired, will need training.

COSTS TO CONSIDER1. The more hours of instruction to be designed and developed, the higher the cost of design and development (“Online course development: What does it cost? -- campus technology,” 2001).2. Designing and developing of degree programs can cost up to $25,000.00 per credit (“Online course development: What does it cost? -- campus technology,” 2001).3. Updating technology.4. Instructional team will need to be trained (“Online course development: What does it cost? -- campus technology,” 2001).

ACTION PLAN AND TIMELINE 1. Select a project leader. (JANUARY 2017)2. Establish a budget. (JANUARY- MARCH 2017)3. Put together a list of possible courses. (MARCH- JUNE 2017)4. Choose an online software program. (MAY 2017)5. Department heads/faculty members will develop courses by using current procedures in the department. (JUNE 2017- JUNE 2018)6. Submit for approval to university. (JUNE 2018)7. Prepare for the Board of Regents approval. (JULY- SEPTEMBER 2018)8. Once approved, create an online support service, hire instructors, provide training, and market classes to public. (OCTOBER 2018- JULY 2019)9. Implement courses. (Fall 2019)10. Evaluate courses/programs.11. Discuss broadening online learning and revisit budget.
