Acid Rain

Why is air pollution a global problem?

Acid rain is a problem all over the world, when acid gases are released, they go up in the sky, and then they are carried by strong winds. The acid in acid rain drains important minerals from the leaves and the soil, and is very bad for plants, trees and agricultural land. .

What is acid rain?Acid rain" is a broad term referring to a mixture of wet and dry deposition (deposited material) from the atmosphere containing higher than normal amounts of nitric and sulfuric acids. The precursors, or chemical forerunners, of acid rain formation result from both natural sources, such as volcanoes and decaying vegetation, and man-made sources, primarily emissions of sulfur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) resulting from fossil fuel combustion.

Negative side effects of acid rainimpact on architecture and art because of its ability to corrode certain materialAquatic settings are the most clearly impacted by acid deposition though because acidic precipitation falls directly into themAs acid rain falls on trees, it can make them lose their leaves, damage their bark, and stunt their growth. By damaging these parts of the tree, it makes them vulnerable to disease, extreme weather, and insects

Diseases associated by acid rain respiratory disease and other illnesses ranging from asthma to premature death, breathing problems, cancer and potentially brain damage
