In 1761, she met a lawyer named John Adams. Three years later, they got married and welcomed their first child in 1765, Abigail. Their family grew larger with he addition of John Quincy in 1767, Susanna in 1768, Charles in 1770, and Thomas Boylston in 1772. The family suffered greatly when Susanna died as a toddler and then again when Abigail Adams delivered a stillborn in 1777.
Abigail Smith was born on November 11, 1744 in Weymouth, Massachusetts. She devoted her life to reading, studying, and learning even if she couldn't attend school, which was common for girls at that time. She favored Shakespeare, government, and law.

All throughout John Adams career, Abigail Adams served as an advisor to him. He wasn't like most husbands because he would oftenly ask for her opinion. But John was always away on trips, which was hard on Abigail because she would have to take care of the family and the farm.

After John retired from being president, the family moved back down to their farm. In 1814, Abigail, the eldest child. dies from cancer. Then in 1818, Abigail Adams dies at home with the rest of her family.
