REVEIWThis Book was quite enjoyable the author did a great job using descriptive adjectives. I thought that the characters were just right for the story. The plot was very unexpected. I think the way the author started off the story with the character going back to the place where all the conflict had started was different and it gave the story much more effect. The pace was normal and just right, not too fast, I really liked how he didn't go straight to the plot but how he instead gave it chronological events leading towards it. Yes I enjoyed this book, I'm not into historical books but this book was fairly well written. It contained information about WWII and showed peoplethat you could avoid it by finding Seperate Peace.

WORLD CONNECTIONA Seperate Peace connects to our World right now becasue In this book themes such as Friendship and War are thorough throughout the story. In Friendships people aren't perfect they get mad at eachother and jealous. Finny and Genes friendship shows us that. War however is a big issue right now not as big as WWII, but its still going on.There are also wars between yourself many which teenagers live through. There are many more ways this book can connect to our World today but these were definitely the first ones.

This video matches the book because the narrator goes back to his old school and it was raining, Gene goes back to a specific spot near the school and lots of memories flash back to him so the music blends in with that fairly well.

This video is here becasue Gene had an identity crisis and apparently Spiderman does too.

SETTINGThe setting starts off in New England at the Devon Boarding School in the Year 1942 (Early years of World War II). The character goes to a river and tree beside there that is filled with many memories from his past.A quote that that the author uses to resemble the school is, "It is the beauty of small areas of order-a large yard, a group of trees, three similar dormitories, a circle of old houses-living together in contentious harmony"(12.)To describe beside the river the author emphasizes, "A little fog hung over the river so that i neared it i felt myself become isolated from everything except the river and a few trees beside it"(13.)The author substantiates that the place seems much smaller with a famous french quote "So the more things remain the same, the more they change after all-c'est la meme chose, plus ca change"(14.)

CHARACTERSGene Forrester- Gene is a clever and isolated 16 year old boy. he is 5 ft and 8 1/2 in and weighed 140 pounds. He has a best friend Finny, which he got a little jelous of. He is self-consious and blames himself for everything. An important quote showing Gene is," I spent as much time as I could alone in our room, trying to empty my mind of every thought, to forget where I was, even who I was." (62.)Here the author elucidas that Gene has an identity Crisis and acts like a normal teenage kid. There are many other quotes on Gene having an identity crisis on where he acts like his friend Finny. Another quote show that Gene is a follower and gets convinced easily which is, "Why did I let Finny talk me into stupid things like this......Jump!.....With the sensation thatI was throwing my life away, I jumped into space."(17.)Finny (Phineas)- Finny was a handsome, athletic and brave 16 year old. He was as tall as Gene but weighed 150 pounds. He wasn't very smart but whenever he got into trouble he was a master in talking himself out of it. His dream was to be in the Olympics of 1944. Finny suffered from a life changing event but he handled it fairly well . The author shows the reader that Finny is tough and likes to fight becasue the Gene states, "I threw my hip against his, catching him by surprise, and he was instantly down, definitely pleased. This is why he liked me so much. When I jumped on top of him. my knees on his chest, he couldnt ask for anything better."(19.) Finny always won fights so this was really exciting for him. Aother way Gene describes him is as a leaser and a great persuader is by saying, " Naturally, Finny was goimg to be the first to try, and just naturally he was going to inveigle others, us into trying it with him." (15.)
