A President's Vision

William J. Clinton won the election against George H. W. Bush in 1992. Clinton was inaugurated in office on January 20, 1993, as a democrat. He took office at age 46, being the third youngest president on the U.S. Clinton’s mainly wanted to restore the Nation’s economy. He also disapproved of violence against women, and tried to keep it from happening. He also loved childrren, and most of the things he did was for them, and a betters future nation for them. Through his presidency, he tried to achieve does goals, and overcome the problems. During his time as president, he appointed many women to his cabinet and also passed many bills concerning violence against women. He was also successful in restoring the nation’s economy. While he was still president, he passed the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). This agreement was signed in 1992, between the United States, Canada, and Mexico. It became effective on January 1, 1994. This agreement lowered the tariffs on the majority of goods that came from Canada and Mexico. This agreement produced about $11 trillion yearly of goods and services. This agreement is still efficient now. Bill Clinton was a person that supported women, and wanted them to be successful. He wasn’t one of those men who think like the people in the 1800’s. He greatly disliked the violence women were experiencing. Due to this, he passed the Violence Against Women Act, in 1994. This was the first major law against violence against women. This law protect women from sexual assaults, domestic violence, etc. This act created more punishments for sexual assaulters, and domestic violence. Many programs were launched to help women suffering from violence, and to prevent people. William J. Clinton took very good care of the United States of America. When he was president, he did help improve the economy of the U.S. When, Clinton left office, in 2001, the budget had a surplus of $236 billon. It was the first time in 30 years that the U.S. was not in debt, and instead had a surplus.
