Summary
Theme
In contemporary literary studies, a theme is the central topic a text treats. People may have to do things in war that they will regret to survive but not reflect who they are This book is sad but it get the message though your mind and opens your eyes. "I tried to stop myself from thinking, but nothing seemed to work. I decided to just ignore every thought that came to my head, because it brought too much sadness."
Main Character
Ishmael is the main character he is 12 years old when the war began. he's having a hard time protecting himself and having a hard time accepting who he is. I can relate to Ishmael because we both have a hard time accepting who I am.
