[2014] Joshua Zornes: A long way gone By: Ishmael Beah

Ishmael Beah was only 11 when the war reached his village, taking everything his family had, he and his brother were seperated from their parents, and forced to survive on their own, along with friends. Throughout the story, Ishmael and everyone, have many encounters with death, and just when all seems good, the rebels show up again. Eventually Ishmael is seperated from his brother, all alone he eventually meets some old class mates, and then they stick together, and eventually they almost find their families, only to here them all die. eventually Ishmael joins the Army and becomes a different more dangerous person, who is then forced out of the army to learn how to be a boy again.


Imagine, you wake up one morning, it's a nice day, and your brother, friends, and you have a talent show to go to. You all go on your way, but on the way War break out, you try to go back to your village to find your Father, but he's not there. Everywhere there a rebels, everyone takes off running, hoping not to get shot, there's blood everywhere, then soon it's just your brother, friends, and you all alone trying to survive the attacks. Well this is what happened to Ishmael Beah.
