Accomplishments
Abe Lincoln’s Union army and his leadership abolished slavery. Commander Robert E. Lee is known by some as, “the great southern hero” of the war. He remains one of the most revered iconic figures of American military leadership. Commander Ulysses S. Grant became the 18th president of the United States, following the success of the American Civil War. Grant helped defeat the Ku Klux Klan and protect African American citizenship.
