The concert was to take place, and it took place. Old musicians, good professionals at the top level for many years, were gathered. Soldiers, who had once playing musical instruments, were called from the front to Leningrad.
7th ( Leningrad ) symphony
70 years ago, August 9, 1942, in the siege of Leningrad the Seventh Symphony composed in c major Dmitri Shostakovich, which was later called "Leningrad"was performed. This work has inspired people for centuries and remains as a reminder of the power of man and of his constant and strong desire to live.

And after so many years in 2009 year a monument to Shostakovich in Vyborgsky district was open.
