Guide
Pick a product or practice to collaboratively analyze and focus on.
Create a plan to plan out logistics, where and when meeting will take place, and who will attend. Be sure to have expectations, resources, agendas, and lesson plans all complete and ready.
Team members must be knowledgeable of what is being analyzed. Sufficient time is required for reflection allowing discussion tinme, questioning time, and time to review sample work, practice or product.
PLC members need to be professional when critiquing and questioning items being reviewed. Discussion needs to focus on what was successful, what needs to be changed, and next steps to be taken.
A plan is created to help the teacher to move forward improving practices or product. The teacher will implement the new plan of action.
PLC team meets afte the teacher begins implementation of recommendations to examine the plans impact on student learning. Team memebers will share knowledge gained from the process.
All members need to be encouraged to be active participants in steps 1-6. Working as a collaborative group will build the professional learning community.
