Mrs. Ostrowski won New Hampshire Elementary Principal of the Year.

We had Stephen Michael Harris come to our school to talk about writing. Everyone thought he was very funny.

Class Updates In math we just finished unit 4 and are moving on to fractions. All 5th graders will be changing classes for math because everyone learns differently, such as hands on or visual, and each teacher will teach fractions differently. We will all take the same final test. Fractions is the only unit we switch for in 5th grade. Also last Thursday science with Mrs. Woods ended. We will be working with Mrs. Rushia for the rest of the year. We are working on sharing books by creating book trailers and glogs. We are finishing up our poetry unit, writing final copies. We made a final book about why explorers explored during the Age of Exploration.

Note from Mrs. Rushia: Sargent Center Parent Meeting The school coordinator from Sargent Center, Larry Chambers, will visit Swasey School on Thursday, February 11. Larry will meet with all 5th graders in the afternoon and with parents in the evening. Both students and parents will view a slide show and have the opportunity to ask questions about the camp. The parent information meeting, open to parents from Brentwood, East Kingston, Newfields and Kensington, will be held in our gymnasium from 6:30-8:00 p.m. I hope that you will be able to attend this informative session. As we draw closer to our trip, we are also planning to have two current 6th graders from Swasey return to share their camp experiences with the students and answer any further questions they may have. All fifth grade teachers attend camp for the entire week with your children. We leave on Monday, April 12 and return home on Friday, April 16. As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to call me and we can set up a meeting to discuss your concerns.
