Verbal/Emotional/Mental bullying is bullying that involves saying or writing mean things. Examples are teasing, name calling, inappropriate sexual comments, taunting and threatening to cause harm.

Social bullying, sometimes referred to as relationship bullying, is bullying that involves hurting someone's reputation or relationships. Examples are leaving someone out on purpose, telling other children not to be friends won't someone, spreading rumors about someone and embarrassing someone in public.

Cyber bullying is bullying that takes place online and through text messages and emails. Examples are posting rumors on social media sites, sharing embarrassing pictures or videos, and making fake profiles or websites.

Physical bullying is bullying that involves hurting a person's body of possessions. Examples are hitting, kicking, punching, biting, tripping, spitting, taking or breaking someone's things and making mean or rude gestures.

Even though there are four different types of bullying, they all have some things in common. All bullying is repeated and makes the victim feel alone, unpopular, different and powerless. Bullying is never a good thing and people who bully use their power to hurt other peers. Those who bully may decide to do this because they want to copy their friends, think bullying will help them fit in or think they are better than the kid they are bullying. However, kids who bully may even have life-long lasting problems like using alcohol or drugs, getting into fights, and even dropping out of school.
