The vice president can become president if the president were to be assassinated, dies, removed from office, or he resigns. The vacancy if there is in the vice president’s spot will be nominated by the president to fill that position. The president can be discharged by the senate and the speaker of the house of representatives to be discharged from office. This would be another case where the vice president shall then become president. The President can resume power if and only if the vice president and the others who voted him out of office that he was right and wasn't doing anything wrong. In the 1960s when President John F. Kennedy was shot and died President Lyndon B. Johnson took over and this helped our country to go on even though JFK died. This also helped when other presidents died such as Abraham Lincoln, James A. Garfield, and William McKinley if this amendment existed back then. President Johnson passed this amendment in 1967 during his term as president to give us how to deal with this problem if it were to ever occur. This also helped in cases where the president was impeached or left office on his own terms. This amendment has helped our country in many ways but these are the only few I could think of.
