21ST AMENDMENT

THE 21ST AMENDMENT

WHY IT WAS...

WHEN IT WAS...

WHAT IT WAS...

THE 18TH WASN'T NEEDED

PROPOSED: 2/20/1933

THE 18TH AMENDMENT WAS IN AFFECT FOR AROUND 13 YEARS BEFORE IT WAS REPEALED, AND THERE WAS A STRONG REASON WHY IT WAS REPEALED. PEOPLE SIMPLY LIKE DRINKING, AND WHEN THE 18TH WAS PASSED, MANY PEOPLE STILL DRANK, AND THE GOVERNMENT COULDN'T REGULATE OR TAX THE LIQUOR. PLUS PEOPLE GATHERED TO OPPOSE THE LAW, AND CRIME REGARDING ALCOHOL SKYROCKETED. IT WAS A WHOLE MESS OF A COUNTRY AND THE GOVERNMENT HAD TO FIX IT, SO THE 21ST WAS PROPOSED TO REPEAL THE 18TH. NOW PEOPLE CAN DRINK AS MUCH AS THEY PLEASE.

RATIFIED: 12/5/1933

SECTION I: THE 18TH ARTICLE OF AMENDMENT TO THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES IS HEREBY REPEALED. SECTION II: THE TRANSPORTION OR IMPORTATION INTO ANY STATE, TERRITORY, OR POSSESSION OF THE UNITED STATES FOR DELIVERY OR USE THEREIN OF INTOXICATING LIQUORS, IN VIOLATION OF THE LAWS THEREOF, IS HEREBY PROHIBITED. SECTION III: THIS ARTICLE SHALL BE INOPERATIVE UNLESS IT SHALL HAVE BEEN RATIFIED AS AN AMENDMENT TO THE CONSTITUTION BY CONVENTIONS IN THE SEVERAL STATES, AS PROVIDED IN THE CONSTITUTION, WITHIN SEVEN YEARS FROM THE DATE OF SUBMISSION HEREOF TO THE STATES BY THE CONGRESS.
