Harvey Haddix, a pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates, threw a perfect 12 inning game against the Milwaukee Braves with the flu. However, the Pirates lost in the 13th inning because of a fielding error. Ray Norton was also in the news. This black sprinter won 3 gold medals at the PanAm Games in Chicago.
